A theatre nerd on a mission to make a new generation of theatre nerds.

 
  • Joy teaches in the Musical Theatre Department at her grad school alma mater, teaching Musical Theatre performance for Non-Majors

  • Joy teaches as a member of the Berklee Theatre Arts Collaborative at BCM. Classes taught include: Musical Theatre Dance Workshop, Dance Styles for Singers, Musical Theatre New Works Ensemble, as well as several Boston Conservatory leveled dance classes in Jazz and Tap.

  • As faculty in Emerson College’s Dance department, Joy teaches Musical Theatre Dance Repertoire to the graduating Musical Theatre BFA seniors, as well as Introduction to Musical Theatre Dance for majors and non-majors alike.

  • Joy teaches multiple sections of Introduction to Theatre for Non-Majors at Boston College.

Education for all ages

From Kindergarten to college, Joy teaches theatre to every age group under the sun. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts and Acting, and a Master’s Degree in Musical Theatre, she is passionate about inspiring a new level of theatre “nerdage” in students of all ages. Joy has taught at premiere institutions and programs from coast to coast including:

  • New York City Public Schools

  • Musical Theatre Summer Camps

  • New York City’s Success Academy

  • Wakefield High School

  • Education Programs at Regional Theatre Companies

 

If it’s theatre, she’s taught it.

Joy’s extensive education and passion for the art form have lead her to teach a wide variety of theatrical subjects, mostly focusing on performance. Some of her favorites include:

  • Movement and Dance

  • Musical Theatre Production

  • Song Interpretation

  • Audition Technique

  • Improvisation and Sketch Comedy
